- For the crust:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt

- 3–4 tbsp ice water
- For the filling:
- 6 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- For the crumb topping:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- To make the crust, combine flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water, 1 tbsp at a time, until dough comes together.
- Roll out dough and fit into a 9-inch pie dish.
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared crust.
- For the crumb topping, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbly.
- Cool slightly before serving. Optional: serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

- Granny Smith apples provide tartness while Honeycrisp adds sweetness—use a mix for balanced flavor.
- Chilling the crust before baking can help it hold its shape better.
