Scale
- 1 round bread boule (sourdough or artisan)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Carefully cut a circular lid from the top of the bread boule and hollow out the center, leaving enough bread around the edges to hold the filling.
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
- Brush the inside of the hollowed bread and underside of the lid with the garlic butter mixture.
- Fill the center of the bread with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, then place the lid back on top.
- Brush the entire exterior of the bread with more garlic butter and place it on the prepared tray.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is golden brown.
- Garnish with extra parsley and serve hot, pulling pieces apart or dipping chunks into the cheesy center.
Notes
- Use a sturdy bread boule to hold the filling without collapsing.
- Adjust the amount of garlic and spice to your taste preference.
- Best enjoyed fresh from the oven while hot and melty.
